The St. Petersburg-based Viking River Cruises first set sail in 1997 and quickly became a global leader in river travel. The company's maritime division was launched in 2013 with a large and remarkably rapid shipbuilding program. The inaugural voyage of Viking Ocean Cruises' fleet, the Viking Star, began in 2015. Since then, Sister ships have steadily followed each other, and several additional vessels are coming here.
